Internships partners

Partner with us

CzechMates was founded to connect American university students with meaningful, credit-bearing internships abroad. We partner with organizations to create experiences that benefit students while contributing value to the teams and communities they join.

The location was chosen specifically to provide an immersive cultural experience beyond tourist pathways, and to nurture an experience that would meaningfully help to prepare them for their future lives and careers.

Since its founding, we’ve expanded beyond the USA and our goal remains to connect dedicated and passionate students to innovative organizations and companies in the Czech Republic through mentored internships that comprehensively support the interns and supervisors alike.

Why partner with CzechMates

Finding the Right Match

CzechMates screens and interviews each student before matching them with an organization. We consider the student’s goals, skills, and interests alongside the organization’s needs to create a meaningful and productive internship experience.

Supporting Students and Partners

Throughout the internship, CzechMates provides academic mentorship and ongoing support. We help students navigate the challenges of working abroad while staying connected with our organizational partners to ensure expectations and goals are being met.

A Collaborative Experience

We view internships as a partnership between the student, host organization, and CzechMates. Through clear communication and proactive support, we work with all parties to create a successful experience.

Compensation

Due to visa and regulatory limitations, internships are typically unpaid. We work closely with partner organizations to ensure expectations around the internship are clear from the beginning.

Work with us

Arrange internships with us

We are always looking for new partners. If you are interested, please write to us at info@czechmates.org. Since we work with incoming international students, we typically are in contact with the students about 3-5 months prior to the internship start date.

If you would like to request an intern for a specific period of time, we recommend opening the discussion about 10 months prior so we can work with our partner universities to recruit the appropriate candidate.

It is our goal for those partners who wish it, to provide interns at each cycle (Autumn, Spring, Summer).

Expected internship period

Length and time of internship

Students are expected to intern at minimum 200 hours throughout their internship, unless more is agreed upon by both sides.

Autumn internship
~13 weeks late September-mid-December
Spring internship
~13 weeks late February-mid May
Summer internship
9 weeks, early June - end of July/early August

Benefit of foreign interns

1

Fresh Perspectives and Innovation – International interns bring new ideas and diverse approaches that can inspire innovation and improve existing processes.

2

Mutual Learning – Internships promote two-way knowledge exchange, benefiting both the intern and the organization through shared skills and perspectives.

3

International Knowledge and Market Insights – They provide valuable cultural and market knowledge that can support international expansion and global engagement.

4

Project Support – Interns can complete well-defined research, analysis, or improvement projects that permanent staff may not have time to undertake.

5

Language and Cross-Cultural Benefits – They strengthen multilingual communication and help organizations develop greater intercultural awareness and collaboration.

6

Digital Skills – Many interns contribute up-to-date technical and digital expertise, including data analysis, AI tools, programming, and digital marketing.

7

Capacity During Peak Workloads – Interns provide additional short-term capacity by assisting with projects, events, research, and administrative tasks.

8

Building International Networks – Hosting international interns creates connections with overseas universities, professionals, and potential future employees.

9

Employer Branding – Offering international internships enhances the organization's reputation as an inclusive, globally minded, and attractive place to work.

10

Cost-Effective Talent Exploration – Short-term internships allow organizations to assess potential future employees while gaining valuable contributions at relatively low cost.
