Money talk
Our goal is to offer high quality cost effective program opportunities. This is why we designed our course to be in Brno, Czech Republic, a location that as a student city is naturally more cost effective than many other European locations.

We refrain from posting the cost of our programs on the top of the page, as many students do not pay our posted fee, but will be charged by their home university. Costs for the programs can be found below.
Semester
While the Czech Republic using Korun (crowns), all costs are shared in EUR as it is often easier to distinguish.
Tuition and Fees
Home University pays
If you will be paying for your study abroad experience first to your home university, please consult with your home university how much your tuition costs will be. This varies by home university, and the cost is determined not by Masaryk University, but by your home university.
All students pay directly for the accommodation and meals - see estimated costs below.
Student pays directly
If you will be paying for your study abroad experience directly to CzechMates/Masaryk University, the following tuition and fee rates applies.
Tuition, internship and fees total: €11,400
including Orientation Week fee, ISIC card fee, Czech language crash course
Housing and meals
Students pay directly for housing to the Masaryk University dormitories through the online student portal. Prices are listed per night, so students pay for the exact nights of their contract period (i.e. arrival and departure dates) rather than a set ‘semester’ fee. For 2025/2026 the estimated semester cost is €1,350 for housing in a 2 person room with kitchenette and private bathroom.
There are student canteens where students can eat, however most students do a combination of cooking for themselves and eating out. Students should estimate about €1,300/semester for 2-3 meals at mid-range restaurants per week and cooking for themselves. Many places around Brno offer student discounts. As always, expenses vary based on student preferences
Housing and meals
Students are responsible for their own travel and personal expenses. Costs below are based on the 2025/2026 academic year.
Flights: location dependent
Public transport: for students < 26 y/o: 11 EUR/month or 27 EUR/3 months
Czech Insurance: ~€450/semester
Additional personal expenses (individual travel, museums, etc.): average:€500-2000/semester
Summer
Regardless of if students pay directly or if they pay their home university, the program fee includes the following:
Students should budget an additional €125-200 per week of the course depending on their spending habits for food in Brno and weekend trips and fun "optional" activities (the underground labyrinth in Brno, Budapest baths, bars, etc.)
The tuition fee is dependent on if students pay their home university or directly to CzechMates/Masaryk University. Please ask your home university which applies to you.
For students paying directly, up to date costs can be found on the Masaryk University Summer School website for the 4 week maymester course and the 9 week internship. Please write us at info@czechmates.org for the discounted cost for the 11 week course+internship experience.

FAQs
Why is housing not included for semester programs?
The most cost effective way for the majority of students is to pay directly to the Masaryk University accommodation. Through our research this was the best way to ensure students pay the least for housing (in 2025/2026 housing was estimated at about €1,350/semester).
How do I pay if paying directly for the program?
If you are not paying through your home university, but will pay directly to CzechMates/Masaryk University you can expect to be sent two-three payment requests.
Summer:
- Deposit (2 weeks after acceptance to Masaryk University)
- Remaining payment invoices divided between Masaryk University and CzechMates 6 weeks prior to the start of the course
Semester
- Payment split between Masaryk University and CzechMates
When there are two payments due (Masaryk University and CzechMates) they will be sent together. The payment to CzechMates is paid via a bank transfer. The Masaryk University payment can be made either with a bank transfer or payment card.
